Admissions
St. John’s School is a voluntary aided Church of England Primary with a Nursery. As a voluntary aided Church of England school, we aim to provide an education based on Christian principles and practise and enjoy close links with our parish church. Governors hope that parents who have chosen the school for their child recognise and are fully supportive of its distinctive ethos. Governors therefore hope that all children will attend acts of collective worship and take part in the religious education curriculum offered by the school. This does not affect the rights parents enjoy under the Educational Reform Act 1988s9(3).
Admission Arrangements
The Governors, who are responsible for admissions to this Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School, have agreed with the Local Authority to admit sixty pupils to the Reception class each year. These arrangements and the admissions criteria are reviewed annually and can be viewed in the document below.
PLEASE NOTE: Attending our nursery setting does not give automatic entry to our reception class. All current nursery pupils will have to re-apply for a place in reception.

30 Hour Funding
The Government introduced new funding to allow childcare providers to offer 30 hours free childcare to working parents. All 3 and 4 year olds are already entitled to 15 hours of free childcare a week and this additional 15 hours will be on offer to families where both parents are working (or the sole parent is working in a lone-parent family), and each parent earns the equivalent of 16 hours a week at the national minimum or living wage, and earns less than £100,000 a year.
To find out more information on 30 hours childcare, how to check you eligibility and how to apply, please click HERE.
Our nursery offers 26 full time places. (No part time.)
Parents/Carers will need to provide funding for the additional 15 hours by either providing proof of their 30 hour entitlement, or paying for the additional 15 hours which are over and above the centrally-funded 15 hours. For more details regarding payments and eligibility, please the Nursery Admissions and Charging Policy below.
